Machine Learning (Level 3)
The purpose of this course is to give students experience of
advanced research in machine learning for language technology.
The course is based on student research projects that either
contribute directly to research on machine learning for language
technology or use established machine learning methods to advance
the state of the art in other areas of language technology.
Each student project will be supervised by a senior researcher
or research group within GSLT and should preferably be related
to current research projects in that group.
Schedule
There will be three meetings for the course:
- An introduction during the first GSLT intensive week in Göteborg,
where teachers present relevant research projects:
31 January, 8-12, Room C430.
- Joakim's slides
- Martin's slides
- Jussi's slides
- A mid-term meeting during the second GSLT intensive week in Göteborg,
where students present work in progress:
14 March, 8-12, Room C430 and F304.
Program
- A closing seminar in Växjö,
where students present their completed
research papers: 18-19 May (lunch to lunch).

related to machine learning and to present this in the form of a research paper.
The project should be supervised by a senior researcher, which
may be one of the teachers of the course, and approved by the
coordinating teacher. The work done (including the project proposal,
attendance at meetings, and writing and presenting the paper)
